God of Prompt — The Move List

Welcome back. Google just made it possible to build a private Android app with AI and run it from Google Play without a developer account. I think that is the most useful thing that happened this week: the quote calculator or job checklist you keep asking a freelancer for, you can now describe and have on your phone this afternoon.

Today: your own app without a developer, build a private Android app in ten minutes, and this week's prompts to steal.

TODAY IN AI

1. Google Play now runs AI-built personal apps privately: On Oct 13, Google said you can vibe code a custom Android app in Google AI Studio and launch it through Google Play on your own device. The app stays private and separate from the public store, and you only need a standard Google account, no developer account. It starts rolling out to select markets, including the U.S.; sharing with friends and family comes in the coming months.

2. X folds Grok, Cursor and X Premium into one subscription: SpaceX Super Intelligence launched The X Subscription on Oct 12. TechCrunch reports five tiers: free, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200, with higher AI usage caps at each step; Premium or higher is needed for the latest Grok models. X says existing Premium and Premium+ subscribers pay the same or less on the comparable plan.

3. Facebook lets people tell its algorithm what they want, in plain words: Meta is rolling out "Your algorithm," where users add and manage the topics they want in Feed and Reels. After tapping Interested or Not interested, people can explain in their own words what they want more or less of, and Meta says recommendations update in real time, powered by large language models.

What this means for you: Small internal tools no longer need a developer, and your customers can now steer their own feed. Build the one app your team keeps asking for, and post things people would actually ask to see more of.

You built the audience. Can you reach them?

You can have thousands of people following your work and still need an algorithm’s permission to reach them. Creators know the drill: you post, you pray, you check the numbers, you try again tomorrow.

A newsletter changes that relationship. On beehiiv, you can build a subscriber list you own, reach readers directly, and turn their attention into a sustainable business with subscriptions, sponsors, a global ad network, and more.

FROM THE FRONTIER

Letting AI agents spend money is coming fast. The question is how short the leash is.

The case for the agent. Shopify now lets shoppers connect an AI agent to their Shop account and buy through Shop Pay inside the chat. The Verge reports the agent can reach over a billion listings, and people can set rules like budget limits. The agent instructions Shopify published include spend requests with an approval limit, so a purchase above it waits for the customer.

The case for caution. In Sweden, Aftonbladet reported that an AI agent deleted an edited season of TV4's The Challenge, costing hundreds of days of work. TV4 denies an agent did it and says the season must be re-edited and will air in late spring instead of Nov 22. True or not, it is the failure every owner fears: an agent acting on real files or real money with no checkpoint.

Budgets and checkpoints first

If an AI agent touches your store, your ad account or your files, give it a spending cap, a list of what it may not delete, and an approval step for anything it cannot undo. Start with read-only access and earn your way up. I'd change my mind if agent platforms start reporting fewer errors with open access than with approvals.

TUTORIAL

How to build a private Android app with AI in ten minutes

1. Pick one small job your team repeats: a quote calculator, a site checklist or a stock count.

2. Open Google AI Studio in your browser and sign in with your normal Google account.

3. Paste the prompt below into the app builder and fill in the brackets.

4. Test the app in the preview. Ask for one change at a time until it does the job.

5. Use the Google Play option to run it as a personal app on your Android phone. It stays private, with no developer account.

6. Hand the phone to the person who does the job and write down the first three things they want changed.

Build a simple Android app for my [type of business]. It does one job: [the task, e.g. calculate a quote from size, materials and hours]. Inputs: [list the fields]. Output: [what the screen shows, e.g. total price with tax]. Keep it to one screen, big buttons, works offline. Save the last 20 entries on the phone. No login, no ads, no extra features.
