Welcome back. Yesterday Claude got read access to your bank account. Same day, OpenAI said a model it hasn't released yet found 948 ways to take over a Linux machine. Hot take: the bank thing is the bigger deal for you. It's the first time a chatbot works from your real numbers instead of what you remember them to be.
Today: OpenAI's 948 Linux holes, Claude reads your bank, Gemini video drops to 7 cents a second, and a 15-minute money check-up with Claude.
TODAY IN AI
1. 🔓 OpenAI's next model found 948 ways to take over Linux: OpenAI pointed an unreleased cyber model at 1,724 known Linux kernel bugs. It reproduced them and found 948 separate ways for a normal user to get full root control, then wrote patches. The run cost about $1.2 million in API credits. A restricted version, GPT-6 Cyber, is only open to vetted security teams.
Why it matters: the same skill works for attackers. Patches are submitted, not shipped, so update every server and laptop you run Linux on, and turn on auto-updates if they're off.
2. 🏦 Claude now reads your bank account: Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude, a US beta. You connect the accounts you pick, and Claude answers money questions from your real balances and transactions. It's read-only: Claude can't move, manage or invest anything. The post passed 37K likes in a day.
Why it matters: you can finally ask "where did my money go this month" and get an answer from the actual numbers. Connect one account first, not all of them, and keep business and personal apart.
3. 🎥 Google cut AI video to 7 cents a second: Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash makes and edits clips up to 15 seconds, and you can keep editing by chatting with it. It costs $0.07 per second at 720p, 30% less than the last version. It's in the Gemini API, Flow, Google Vids and Google Ads, and every clip carries a SynthID watermark.
Why it matters: a 15-second ad draft now costs about a dollar. Test ten hooks before you pay anyone to shoot one.
What this means for you: AI is getting access to real things now: your money, your servers, your ad budget. Decide what it's allowed to touch before it asks.
FROM THE FRONTIER
AI is now helping build the next AI. Plan for it to move twice as fast.
The good news. METR, an outside evaluator, spent three months inside Anthropic and estimates Anthropic's progress is now running about twice its old pace. They think around 80% of that speed-up comes from AI doing the work. Tools you pay for get better faster.
The bad news. Much of the evidence is redacted, so nobody outside can fully check it. And faster progress means whatever you set up in January is out of date by June.
My call: review your AI stack every quarter, not every year
Put a 30-minute slot in your calendar every 90 days. List the tools you pay for, what each one does for you, and what's launched since. Cut one, test one. I'd change my mind if the next two big model releases come out slower than the last two.

TOOLBOX
🎬 Higgsfield: turn one product photo into five ad variations with different camera moves, then keep the one that stops the scroll.
🎥 Arcads: write ten hooks and get each one back as a UGC-style video ad with an AI actor, so you can test them before you shoot anything.
⚙️ n8n: get a Slack message every Monday with last week's spend, sales and refunds pulled from your tools.
You are sitting on $100k to $2 million of data

OpenAI, Micro1 and Anthropic have paid out billions of dollars to partner with companies on their operational data. It's creating a new revenue stream for businesses over 20 people and pays anywhere from $100k - $2 million a pop.
TUTORIAL
A 15-minute money check-up with Claude Personal Finance
Check you can use it: it's a beta for US paid Claude plans. Look for Personal Finance in Claude. If you don't see it yet, export last month's transactions as a CSV and upload that instead.
Connect one account: start with the card you spend the most on. Access is read-only, and you can unlink it any time.
Ask for the boring list first: every subscription and repeat charge from the last 90 days, with the amount and date.
Mark each one: keep, cancel or downgrade. Be honest about the ones you opened once.
Run the prompt below to get a one-page summary you can act on today.
Put a reminder in for 30 days and run the same prompt again to see what changed.
Look at my transactions from the last 90 days.
1. List every subscription and repeat charge: name, amount, how often, last date.
2. Flag anything I was charged for but haven't clearly used, and any price that went up.
3. Show my 5 biggest spending categories with totals and the change vs. the month before.
4. Give me 3 cuts that would save the most money with the least pain, with the yearly saving for each.
Use a table for 1 and 3. Plain words, no financial advice, just what the numbers show.PROMPT STATION
