God of Prompt — The Move List

Welcome back. Google launched Gemini 4 Argon less than an hour before this email, and it ranks #1 on the Vals Index, a test of real finance, legal, tax and coding work. For a business owner the headline is the price: $2 per million input tokens to start. If you pay for Claude or ChatGPT, today is the day to run your hardest task through all three.

Today: Gemini 4 Argon goes live, test Argon on a real business document, and this week's prompts to steal.

TODAY IN AI

1. Google launches Gemini 4 Argon, its new frontier model: Google says Argon ranks #1 on the Vals Index, which measures performance across finance, coding, legal and tax work. It launches at an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input 95% off, and a 1M unified input-output token limit in the Gemini API. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can try it today in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search; businesses get it in Gemini for business, the API and Google Antigravity.

2. Character.ai files for Chapter 11 to sell the company: On Oct 12, Character.ai said it has started a voluntary Chapter 11 process to run a court-supervised sale, citing legal, regulatory and operational headwinds. It expects the sale to finish by the end of November or early December. If no workable bid comes in, the platform will be wound down. For now the service and paid subscriptions keep running, and users can export their data.

3. Amex wants proof of what you told your AI agent to buy: American Express is adding an intent framework to its agent toolkit, TechCrunch reports. A Create Intent API records the customer's instructions, such as merchant, maximum budget and preferences, the customer signs off, and the agent gets a one-off payment credential tied to those limits instead of the real card number. Amex says it has not yet seen more disputes from agent purchases.

What this means for you: The best model for business work changed hands today, and the chatbot you depend on can disappear in a court sale. Keep your prompts and data portable so you can switch in an afternoon.

FROM THE FRONTIER

Argon's real threat to Claude and GPT is not the score. It is the bill.

The leaderboard case. On the Vals Index as of Oct 12, Argon scores 68.90%, ahead of Claude Sonnet 5.5 at 67.04%, Claude Opus 5.5 at 66.97% and GPT-6 Astra at 63.13%. Vals puts its cost to run the whole test at $15.68 for Argon against $32.14 for Opus 5.5.

The case for waiting. The gap to Sonnet 5.5 is under two points, and Vals shows a margin of error close to one point for Argon. Google's $2 input price is introductory: Vals lists $4 and $20, the same as Opus 5.5. And it is one benchmark, picked by the company that is launching.

Run your own bake-off

Do not switch on a leaderboard. Take five real tasks from last month, a contract, a forecast, a customer email thread, and run them through Argon, Claude and ChatGPT with the same prompt. Keep the one that gets the most right with the least editing. I'd change my mind if independent tests in the next two weeks put Argon below Sonnet 5.5 on real work.

IN THE KNOW

Antigravity Launch: Google's own launch note, with the two numbers that matter for anyone shipping code:

Going Live: AI commentator Kimmonismus, who had been tracking Argon rumors for weeks, flagged the moment it went live. Expect a wave of side-by-side tests over the next few days. (647 likes)

Cloud First: TestingCatalog spotted Argon in Google Cloud before the consumer apps. If your company already uses Google Cloud, you may be able to test it there first. (337 likes)

TOOLBOX

🎬 Higgsfield: upload one product photo and get a scroll-stopping video ad with cinematic camera moves in about 5 minutes.

🎙️ ElevenLabs: turn a script into a natural voiceover for ads, demos or support lines without booking a studio.

🎭 Arcads: write the script, pick from 300+ AI actors, and get UGC-style ads to test without hiring creators.

TUTORIAL

How to test Gemini 4 Argon on a real business document

1. Open the Gemini app. Argon is available today if you have Google AI Pro or Ultra.

2. Pick a document you actually need to act on: a contract, a supplier quote or last quarter's numbers.

3. Upload it and paste the prompt below, filling in the brackets.

4. Read the risks and numbers it flags, then open the document at each page it cites.

5. Paste the same document and prompt into Claude or ChatGPT.

6. Compare the two answers on what each got right that you would have missed. Keep the winner for this kind of task.

Read the attached [document type] as my [role, e.g. operations lead]. List the five things in it that cost me money or create risk, each with the exact page or clause and the number involved. Then list three questions I should ask before I sign or act. Quote the text you rely on and mark anything you are unsure about as UNSURE. Do not summarize the whole document.

From invisible to first in ChatGPT.

Bob's Your Uncle has spent twenty years helping challenger brands win their categories. But when buyers asked ChatGPT about their own category, the agency didn't show up.

With ChatFeatured, their AI visibility went from 7% to 22% in 90 days, and they went from invisible to first in ChatGPT.

They're not the only ones:

Vessel: AI visibility up 2,200%+

WikiSleep: brand mentions up 113%

ChatFeatured finds the questions where AI leaves you out, writes the content that gets you cited, and reports the lift every week. Your team decides what ships.

Most customers see their first citations inside 7 days.
